Wallpaper Panels.

The wallpaper panels in our master bedroom are done!!  I am thrilled with how they turned out.  Yippee!

The project was fairly simple.  (But I guess I should speak for myself since Justin did 90% of the work!)  We picked up some MDF and wood trim to frame the panels out.  After we cut the trim, we spray painted it a muted gold color (I think the name was Rustoleum Caramel Latte).  Rather than messing around with wallpaper paste, we just adhered the wallpaper to the MDF using a spray adhesive (super easy).  Then we used wood glue to attach the trim to avoid any nail holes.  After they were assembled, we just did a little touch up painting around the sides.  And voila!

The colors in the wallpaper work so well in our room.  It took me a while to commit, but I am glad I did.  I knew I wanted something metallic; and the gray, gold, and linen color work well with the existing neutrals in the room.

Stayed tuned to see what I did with the leftover wallpaper . . .

  1. Very neat idea! Looks like I need to check out the local wallpaper store for something that will work in our home too, for some rather inexpensive art!

Thanks for the idea, Emily! And as always, thanks for sharing thru your blog!

  4. Love them! They look awesome. I was debating wallpaper options myself when I came across some woodwork screens I decided to use instead. But I've still got that idea for the panels on reserve for another room.

  8. emily- have you tried a product called "seche vite" topcoat? It literally dries my manicure in 10 minutes! even if I've done 3 coats! It also leaves nails super shiny- I can't rave about it enough! you can get it at Ulta :)

  10. p.s. where did you get the starburst mirror? I bought some supplies (small mirror plate and some skewers) and was going to try to make one this weekend, but if it flops, I love yours!!

  11. Megan - it's the Glenna Jean starburst mirror. Here's the link to it on Amazon, although it's sold many different places as well: http://www.amazon.com/Scribbles-Starburst-Convex-Nickel-Mirror/dp/B000RJ4HUS

    And it's reasonably priced too!
