Verizon iphone.

First things first . . . thank you for all of your sweet comments on the trellis wall!  Several of you mentioned that you were in the process of doing something similar or that you wanted to tackle the project.  Be sure and come back to share pictures (or to commiserate, if needed)!

In other news, I've had a Blackberry for almost 4 years.  And while I still have to keep it for work e-mail, I got the Verizon iPhone on Monday.  (I was one of those crazy people who set my alarm for 2:00 a.m. and ordered it online last week.)

(photo: here)

I am currently in the process of trying to navigate my way around the phone.  I keep looking for the Blackberry key!  But so far I am enjoying the touch screen and viewing the web and facebook on a much larger screen.

Anywho, I need your help (since I could possibly be the last person out there to not have an iPhone until now).   Are there any tips or tricks that I need to know?  And something I am super excited about -- what apps are must haves?

  2. Congrats!!

The only two paid apps that I consistently use are WhatsApp (like BBM but better) and blogpress.

As far as tips go, one that I recently learned is that if you want to edit the middle of a word, place your finger on the word and hold it - a little magnifying glass will come up with a cursor and then you can move around in the word!

  3. woohoo!! yay for the iphone. my favorite thing is to just set webpages as buttons/apps on my homepage - does that make sense? so with one click i can go to my blog, the ymca workout schedule, houston traffic site, etc. also the weather channel app is much better than the one that is automatically loaded on there :)

    have fun!

  6. I am an iphone lover. I actually was able to help convince the powers at be to allow work emails on blackberries and iphones. One nice thing to know is that if you hold the top sleep button and the home button it takes a screen capture of whatever you're looking at and saves it into the pictures folder.

I agree with LifeBegins@Thirty about WhatsApp. Skype is also great because it allows you to video chat over 3G instead of WiFi. The last one I will mention is AroundMe. AroundMe allows you to search for various categories of places like restaurants or gas stations around you, link to the google map or call from within the app. (Plus it is free!)

  8. I also JUST got an iphone! however I was doing a massive leap from a 4-year old flip, non-smart, phone :) So a bit more adaptation needed on my part but I'm loving it so far. And my husband (blackberry user) is insanely jealous about the iphone, it's pretty funny.

  10. Just found your blog and am loving it! In terms of the Iphone. I, too, said goodbye to my Blackberry and have never turned back!

    Here are some fabulous apps:
Hipstomatic (takes great old fashioned photos)
Epicurious (you can find great recipes and then save them to a shopping list on your phone!)
H&M (if you shake the phone while on the app it gives you random discounts)
Pandora (can stream free radio through your phone - get for gym, work, etc.)

    Enjoy your Iphone!

  11. 1.) The screen shot feature is crazy handy when you want to remember things but don't have time to jot them down (directions, iCal, etc...)

2.) Benjamin Moore Color Capture App!! Nerdy, but so handy! It picks out any color of a wall you like- say your local Starbucks- and gives you a similar color! It's AWESOME!

3.) you will not regret getting the iphone! I'm a HUGE list maker and the best advice i could give anyone is to make a list in NOTES, take a Screen shot of it, and turn it into your background! That way you'll constantly be seeing what you need to do!
