Moving = Stressful and Sadsies.

Hey everyone!  Long time, no talk!

I've been crazy busy packing, moving out, moving in, and unpacking (and traveling to Dallas once a week too).  Besides the usual stress that comes along with moving, it's been extra hard for me leaving our house.  Yes, we chose to make the move, but as things got towards the end, I was having a hard time walking away from our first house, where there were so many memories.  So this past week has been rather tearful through the closing and turning over possession of our home.  This post totally resonates with me.

I think it would have been easier if we were moving to our new home rather than a temporary apartment, which is the size of one of our floors of our old house.  Here's what I mean . . .

Our master closet before:

Now:

(What you don't see are 3 more wardrobe boxes in the living room.)

Our living and dining room before:

Now:

(There are those 3 wardrobe boxes.  And please note the glass of wine by the laundry bins.  Trust me -- wine makes unpacking easier.)

I definitely know the move will be worth it in the end, it's just hard to remember that as you are walking down your beautiful staircase one last time.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that something great comes on the market soon.  The inventory has been pretty low recently and there isn't anything out there we are loving.

Pending work cooperates, I hope to be back more frequently now that the hard part with the move is over.  There's so much I want to blog about!  And I definitely miss catching up with you guys!

  1. Emily, I can so relate as I moved quite a bit as a child. The right home will come your way when the timing is right. I think you will feel better about things once you are back to a somewhat normal routine. If you are anything like me, the upheaval and chaos are the worst. Once the dust settles you can enjoy your new adventure!

  2. I can totally see why you're feeling that way - your home was beautiful. Moving is overwhelming at the best of times (I've moved about 20 times!) but keep your chin up - your next dream home will come along and you'll wonder why you were so down :)

    (I gave up my dream place in Muskoka to live in a 2 bedroom apt in Dubai with a woman upstairs who insists on wearing her heels on her wood floors at all hours of the night! Having our own home can't come soon enough!)

  3. Just came across your blog today. Can't wait to see the new place, I'm sure it will have made the apt worth it for a while, your newest follower from Austin.

  5. Miss you, too, cute lady! And gosh I definitely relate...it's hard to move just in general, but *downsizing* is not an easy task, even if it's just temporary! Good luck sweet thing, I'm sure y'all will find something *amazing*!

  6. Hang in there! When you're in your new home, you will make wonderful, new memories, and I'm sure you'll do an amazing job putting it all together. I love seeing the glass of wine there! Definitely makes packing/unpacking easier! :)
